Editing a tiering subrule

You can edit a tiering subrule to modify the members of the subrule and the length of time that data remains in the source pools before the data is tiered to the target pool. You can also modify the target storage pool and the type of data that is tiered.

Procedure

To edit a tiering subrule, complete the following steps:

  1. On the Operations Center menu bar, click Storage > Storage Rules.
  2. On the Storage Rules page, locate the parent storage rule of the tiering subrule. If the Subrules column displays a single subrule, click the subrule name. If the Subrules column displays a number, hover over the number and then click a subrule to edit.
  3. Click Properties and Modify.
The tiering subrule is now editable.
  4. Edit the properties of the tiering subrule. Click Save.

Results

The tiering subrule is modified. If the parent storage rule is active, the tiering subrule is also active and runs on the same schedule as the parent storage rule. If the parent storage rule is inactive, the tiering subrule is also inactive.
