Metadata optimization for Glacier storage objects
IBM Storage Protect optimizes the storage and management of metadata for S3 client data that is associated with Glacier storage objects within the database. The enhancement streamlines metadata organization and retrieval, reducing query overhead. As a result, search, filtering, and object listing operations are performed significantly faster and more efficiently, particularly for large-scale Glacier datasets and multipart objects.
Automatic metadata migration
For existing Glacier datasets, all associated metadata is automatically migrated to the new metadata management and storage logic during server startup after upgrading to version 8.2.2 or later. The migration process ensures that legacy metadata structures are transformed and optimized to align with the enhanced database schema and retrieval mechanisms.
This one-time upgrade operation is performed transparently during startup, enabling existing Glacier objects and multipart object metadata to benefit from improved search and listing performance without requiring any manual intervention.
