Encryption support

Encryption provides security and protects sensitive data on tape media.

With storage agent, you can use encryption with the following drives:

  • IBM and HP LTO-4 or later
  • IBM 3592 generation 2 and later
  • IBM TS1120 generation and later
  • Oracle StorageTek T10000B
  • Oracle StorageTek T10000C
  • Oracle StorageTek T10000D

You can also use client-side encryption and the IBM Storage Protect automatically generated password.

When LTO-4 encryption is enabled, IBM Storage Protect manages data encryption and decryption according to specifications set when you define the LTO device class. To enable drive encryption with IBM LTO-4, you must have the IBM RMSS Ultrium device driver installed. IBM LTO-4 SCSI drives do not support encryption.
