Copying a cloud connection

After a cloud connection is defined on one server, you can copy it to another server that is known to the Operations Center. You can also use the Copy action to create a similar cloud connection on the same server or on a different server.

Before you begin

If you are copying a cloud connection to another server, authentication mechanisms are not copied and must be provided. To create a copy on a second server, ensure that you have the following authentication information:
  • If you are copying a connection for Google Cloud Storage, the key source file must be available on the server where the copy is created.
  • If you are copying a connection for an S3 cloud type, you must provide the secret access key to create the copy.
  • If you are copying a connection to a Microsoft Azure cloud computing system, you must provide the SAS token value to create the copy.

About this task

By copying a cloud connection to another server, the access to cloud storage that it provides is made available to storage pools and device classes on the other server.

You can also use the Copy action to simplify the creation of similar cloud connections on the same server or on a different server. If an existing connection is similar to one you want to create, you can use the Copy action and change only the properties that are different for the new connection. Although you can change properties of the connection copy, the copy must be of the same cloud type. If you are copying a connection to the same server, you must specify a unique name for the copy.

Procedure

To copy a cloud connection, complete the following steps:

  1. On the Operations Center menu bar, click Storage > Cloud Connections.
  2. On the Cloud Connections page, select the connection that you want to copy.
  3. Click Copy
  4. In the Copy Connection dialog, select the name of the server for the copy. Edit the other fields for accessing the cloud computing system as needed, and click Copy.
