Obtaining device information (AIX)

You use device information when you define paths for the server that functions as the library manager. If you are configuring a FILE library, you do not need to obtain device information.

Procedure

Obtain information about tape devices by using SMIT and issue the following commands on the system where the storage agent is installed:
  • For IBM devices: Select Devices > Tape Drive > List All Defined Tape Drives
  • For other devices: Devices > Tivoli Storage Manager > Tape Drive or Library/Medium Changer > List All Defined devices

To obtain the list of tape devices from the operating system, run the command lsdev -Cc tape as the root user.
