Changing client settings

You can change various client-related settings from the Operations Center, including general, data-management, and replication settings.

You can use the Operations Center to change the settings of commonly-used client properties, including the following items:
  • General properties
    • Policy domain
    • Option set
    • User contact information
    • Client URL
  • Data-management properties
    • Maximum number of mount points
    • Data write path
    • Data read path
    • Archive-deletion permission
    • Backup-deletion permission
    • Compression setting
    • Collocation group
    • Deduplication location
  • Replication properties
    • State
    • Mode
    • Default archive rule
    • Default backup rule
    • Default space-management rule
Tip: You can change other client settings by issuing the appropriate commands from the command-line interface. For information on commands, see the documentation.

Procedure

To change client settings from the Operations Center, complete the following steps:

  1. On the Clients page, select a client.
  2. Click Details and then click the Properties tab.
  3. Click the value of a property that you want to change, and then enter a new value or select from a list of options.
    Tip: Before you click Save, you can change multiple properties on the page. If you click Cancel, all the changes that you made since the last save are canceled.
  4. Click Save.
    Tip: When you change client settings from the Operations Center, an UPDATE NODE command is automatically issued to the server. No changes are made to the client options file, dsm.opt.
