Managing storage devices

You can view status and configuration information for the disk-based, tape-based, and cloud object storage devices that are defined to hub or spoke servers.

About this task

For tape libraries, you can complete the following tasks:
  • View the status of library robotics, drives, and paths.
  • View the number of available scratch tape volumes and private tape volumes for each server.
  • View a library's overall tape capacity and tape usage over two weeks.
  • For shared libraries, identify which server is the library manager and which servers are library clients.
  • View the configuration and state of tape drives, including currently loaded tapes.
  • Specify which drives are available for server operations by taking them offline or bringing them online.
For disks and solid-state drives, you can complete the following tasks:
  • Verify that disks and solid-state drives are available for backup operations.
  • For DISK device classes, view the availability state of volumes.
  • For FILE device classes, view the availability state of directories.
  • For FILE device classes that are shared, view the status of the library, drives, and paths.
For cloud object storage, you can complete the following tasks:
  • View the availability of cloud device classes.
  • View connection details about a cloud device, including the name of the connection, the type of cloud, and the cloud URL.

Procedure

To view storage device information, complete one of the following steps:
Option Description
View information for tape libraries, including virtual tape libraries On the Operations Center menu bar, click Storage > Tape Devices
View information for disks and solid-state drives On the Operations Center menu bar, click Storage > Disk or Cloud Devices > Disk
View information for cloud object storage On the Operations Center menu bar, click Storage > Disk or Cloud Devices > Cloud
