IBM Storage Scale consistent Safeguarded copies (SGC)

IBM Storage Scale consistent Safeguarded copies (SGC) introduces UNIX bash scripts that help create and restore consistent safeguarded copies (SGC), also known as immutable snapshots. These snapshots are used on IBM Storage Protect servers with IBM Storage Scale file systems. These snapshots support rapid data recovery and play a critical role in improving cyber resiliency following a cyberattack.

Performance Benefits

Compared to traditional backup and restore methods, internal testing has demonstrated significant improvements in IBM Storage Protect data and metadata (DB) backup and restore times. Key performance enhancements include:

• Upto 8 times faster restoration of an IBM Storage Protect instance.
• Upto 50 times faster creation of consistent snapshots.
