Device Overview

This device includes several key product features:

  • Redundant and hot-swappable SFP+ and Gen 8 ICL OSFP transceivers; port, control processor (CP), and core routing (CR) blades; power supply assemblies, and fan assemblies that enable a high-availability platform and allow nondisruptive software upgrades for mission-critical SAN applications.
Note:

The Chassis Identifier (CID) is not a field-replaceable unit (FRU) and is installed during the assembly of the chassis.

  • Support for the following features when using the FC128-48 blade:
    • Port blade with 48 front-end 128G FC ports with edge switch interconnect to the core blades. Ports 24–47 also support Ethernet speeds up to 100G.
    • Supports 64G and 128G secure optics only.
    • Each SFP+ FC port supports 16, 32, 64, and 128G FC speeds.
      • A 128G optical transceiver can autonegotiate to 128G, 64G, or 32G.
      • A 64G optical transceiver can autonegotiate to 64G, 32G, or 16G.
Note:

The port speed is determined by the maximum negotiated speed between the installed optical transceiver and the optical transceiver at the other end of the link.

  • Each SFP+ Ethernet port supports 10, 25, 50, and 100G Ethernet speeds.
    • An 128G optical transceiver can be configured to 100GbE, 50GbE, or 25GbE.
    • A 64G optical transceiver can be configured to 50GbE, 25GbE, or 10GbE.
  • Trunking technology groups up to eight ports to create high-performance 1024G ISL trunks between switches using 128G ports.
  • Support for the following features when using the ICLX8-4 blade:
    • Up to four ICL ports on each ICLX8-4 blade that provides 32 OSFP links.
    • An OSFP optical transceiver can operate at Gen 8 or Gen 7 ICL port speeds.
  • Universal ports that self-configure as E_Ports, F_Ports, EX_Ports, M_Ports (mirror ports), and FICON ports.
  • ClearLink™ Diagnostic port (D_Port) functionality on Fibre Channel ports.
  • Data compression capabilities through the port blades when ports are configured as ISLs.
