  • System Properties pane: It displays some properties of the selected storage system. .

After the subheader, the pane displays the Health status, Events with counts, Alerts with count, and Data Collection state.

Note: Alerts are displayed only for IBM Storage Insights Pro licensed customers.
After this section, which is separated by a horizontal separator, five collapsible sections are displayed – Properties , Data collection, Environment, Configuration, andCapacity. Only one of these sections can be expanded at a time. By default, Properties section is expanded.
Note: For DS8000 storage systems, WWNN, Encryption, zHyperLink, Frame properties are also visible under Properties section.

Mark health as acknowledged

It acknowledges the system condition.

Add to general group

It opens a pop-up that provides two options:
  • Add to a new group: Select it to add the resources or groups to a new group and specify a name and description for the new group.
  • Add to existing groups: Select it to add the resources or groups to one or more existing groups and click the appropriate groups in the list.

Data collection

It opens a pop-up that provides options to create tasks for data collection operations. The modern UI does not show the status of the tasks that are created from the overflow menu. To view the status of any task, navigate to the classic IBM Storage Insights view.

Users can select one of the following options from the Select a type of data collection drop-down:

  • Stop data collection: When a user selects the Stop data collection option from the drop-down, the pop-up provides option to create a task to stop data collection for the storage system. Click Create a task to create a stop data collection task or Cancel to close the pop-up.
  • Restart data collection: When a user selects the Restart data collection option from the drop-down, the pop-up provides option to create a task to restart data collection for the storage system. Click Create a task to create a restart data collection task or Cancel to close the pop-up.
  • Stop probe: When a user selects the Stop probe option from the drop-down, the pop-up provides option to create a task to start probe for the storage system. Click Create a task to create a start probe data collection task or Cancel to close the pop-up.
  • Stop performance monitor: When a user selects the Stop performance monitor option from the drop-down, the pop-up provides option to create a task to stop performance monitor for the storage system. Click Create a task to create a stop performance monitor task or Cancel to close the pop-up.
  • Schedule data collection: When a user selects the Schedule data collection option from the drop-down, the pop-up displays the Enable probe and Enable performance monitoring sections with checkboxes, which are selected by default. If a user deselects a checkbox, the respective section gets hide.

Under the Enable probe section, the Schedule probe can be selected as Automatic or Manual. The user can specify the frequency of the data collection from everyday to every 14 days from the drop-down. If a user selects the Manual option, the user can specify the data collection time and time zone in addition to data collection frequency.

For the Enable performance monitoring section, users can select a frequency between every 5 minutes to every 60 minutes. The exact values of frequency options that are the same as IBM Storage Insights classic view.

Click Schedule to schedule a task for data collection or Cancel to close the pop-up.

Connections

It opens the Connection pop-up that provides Select type of connection drop-down. Users can select Test connection or Modify connection option to test or modify storage system connection.
  • Test connection: When a user selects the Test connection option from the drop-down, the pop-up provides option to create a test connection task. Users can click Create a task to create a test connection task or Cancel to close the pop-up. The modern UI does not show the status of the task. To view the status of the task, navigate to the classic IBM Storage Insights view.
  • Modify connection: When a user selects the Modify connection option, the pop-up provides option to modify the host connection of the storage system. The pop-up allows users to modify the hostname or IP address, authentication method, username, and password.
    • Hostname or IP address: Specifies the hostname or IP address of the storage system host.
    • Authentication: Specifies the authentication method of the connection. The supported options are: Username and password and Secure Shell (SSH). Based on the selected authentication method, the pop-up displays the authentication parameters that the user needs to provide:
      • Username and password: The user needs to provide the username and password for the connection.
      • Secure Shell (SSH): The user needs to provide the SSH username and SSH password, upload the SSH key, and provide the passphrase for the uploaded SSH key file. The .txt, .pem, .crt, and .cert are the supported file formats for SSH key file.
    • Cancel: It cancels the operation and closes the pop-up.
    • Modify: It modifies the test connection if the provided authentication parameters are valid. The pop-up displays error messages if errors occur. If the connection is modified successfully, a confirmation message is displayed.

View real-time performance

It navigates you to the storage management website where you can view the real time performance of the block storage systems of your environment.

Export performance data

When a user clicks the option, the Export Performance Data pop-up opens. You can select the start and end date, time range in hours, and time zone to export performance data of volumes. You can select 4, 8 or 12 hours time range to export data. For time range more than 12 hours, enable the Advance export option. For time range less than 12 hours, performance data for volumes is automatically exported to a file. To export volume performance data, select start and end time and click Export. Click Cancel to close the pop-up.

View performance

It opens a classic IBM Storage Insights performance view in a separate window.

View capacity

It opens a classic IBM Storage Insights capacity view in a separate window.

View alert definitions

It navigates you to the classic IBM Storage Insights alert definitions page.
Note: View performance, View capacity, View alert definitions options are available only for IBM Storage Insights Pro customers. All these options are not available for unified storage systems.

Manage maintenance

You can mark or schedule a storage system for maintenance through the modern UI. During active maintenance, alerts are suppressed, except for ransomware and workload anomaly alerts, which continue to trigger. For storage systems scheduled for maintenance but not yet started maintenance, all alerts remain active. When the maintenance ends or is manually exited, alerts resume based on current alert definitions.

Only users with the Admin role can mark a storage system for maintenance. Users with Monitor role can view the maintenance status of storage systems.

Options available when you click Manage maintenance:
  1. Start
    • Available only if the selected storage system is not already in maintenance mode.
    • Clicking this opens a confirmation modal to immediately mark the storage system for maintenance.
  2. Schedule:
    • Available only if the selected storage system is not already in maintenance mode and not scheduled for maintenance.
    • Opens a modal where you can specify the start and end time for the maintenance window.
  3. Stop
    • Available when the selected storage system is already in maintenance mode.
    • Allows you to stop the maintenance mode immediately.
  4. Exit maintenance:
    • Available when the selected storage system is scheduled for maintenance.
    • Allows you to exit maintenance schedule immediately.

Multiple selection behavior

You can select multiple storage systems to start, schedule, stop, or exit maintenance mode:
  1. If all the selected systems are not in maintenance or schedule maintenance, the Start maintenance and Schedule maintenance options appear.
  2. If all the selected systems are in maintenance mode, the Stop maintenance option appears.
  3. If all selected systems are scheduled for maintenance, the Start maintenance and Exit maintenance options appear.
  4. If a mixed set (some in, some not in maintenance) is selected, no maintenance options are shown.

Get support

It navigates you to the IBM support page where you can create or update tickets for any issues in the block storage systems of your environment.

For more information, see Support.

Launch storage systems

It opens a new tab similar to classic IBM Storage Insights behavior.

Ransomware threat detection

The ransomware threat detection details pane opens on the right side. You can enable or disable ransomware threat detection for the specific storage system. For more information, see Enabling and disabling alerts for ransomware threat detection.

Delete

When you select the storage system and click Delete, a confirmation dialog box is displayed. The grid is refreshed after the removal of the storage system and the entry is deleted from the table.

When multiple storage systems are selected, a blue banner appears at the top. It displays the number of selected storage systems and a Delete button. On clicking the Delete button, a confirmation dialog is displayed that confirms whether to proceed with the deletion or not.

Also, IBM Storage systems attached to STaaS environments cannot be removed as the option to remove it remains disabled.
