Switches overview page
The switches overview page is introduced in the new modern view of IBM Storage Insights, ensuring a consistent and contemporary look and feel across all IBM Storage Insights pages. This new interface offers a seamless user experience, eliminating the need to revert to the classic UI while providing enhanced visibility and functionality within a unified design framework.
To access the Switches overview page, click the left Main menu, expand the Inventory section, and click Switches. Use this page to administer and monitor the configuration and status information collected about the switches in your storage environment.
Key features in the switches overview page:
- Health Status Indicators: Prominently displayed at the top of the grid, providing quick access to critical information.
- Click Performance to view switch performance details in the classic UI.
- Switch Properties: Click the three vertical dots menu at the end of each switch row and select View properties to see detailed switch properties and connectivity information.
- Switch detail Page: Clicking on any switch name in the Name column will open the switch detail page in the classic UI.
- Ports detail Page: Clicking the count value under the Ports column opens the ports detail page in the classic UI in a new browser window.
- Sorting, filtering, and column reordering are supported for all columns on the switches overview page.
- Adding switches: Click Add switch to add switches and monitor them in your IBM Storage Insights.
- Fabrics overview: Clicking on any fabric in the Fabric column will open the fabrics overview page in the modern view, filtered for the selected fabric.
- The Chassis tab, previously available in the classic view of the switch overview page, has been relocated in the new modern view and is now accessible as a separate chassis overview page.
- The Alerts tab in the classic view of the switch overview page is now presented as an Alerts column in the modern view.
- More than one Switch can be selected at once. When you select a Switch, the options, such as Add to general group, Remove, and Cancel gets enabled.
- You can see the three vertical dots menu at the end of each row in the table. The
menu provides the following options:
- View properties: Click the option to view the properties of the switch. When you click the option, the properties window of the switch opens.
- View performance: Click the option to view the switch performance. When you click the option, it opens the performance page for the switch in the classic UI in a new window.
- View alert definitions: Click the option to view the alert definition of the switch. When you click the option, it opens the Alert Definitions page in the classic UI in a new window.
- Mark condition as Acknowledged/ Unacknowledged: Click the option to mark a condition as acknowledged or unacknowledged for the switch. If the error is not acknowledged, users see the Mark condition as Acknowledged option. When a user clicks the Mark condition as Acknowledged, the error status is changed to Error Acknowledged. If the error is acknowledged, users see the Mark condition as Unacknowledged option.
- Launch switch GUI: Click the option to open switch GUI in a new browser window.
- Remove: Click the option to remove the switch from IBM Storage Insights. When you click the option, a confirmation dialog appears. Click Remove to remove the switch. To cancel the operation, click Cancel.
Note: The menu options are based on certain conditions and vary for different rows in the tabular view. For example, if the health status of a switch is in the not monitored state, the View performance, View alert definitions, and Mark condition as Acknowledged/ Unacknowledged options are not visible for the switch.
