Explanation

The data collector was unable to connect to the storage system within a reasonable amount of time or number of retries. For example, for some devices, the timeout occurs after 10 seconds.

Action

Verify that the storage system and your network is up and running.

Ensure that the correct credentials are being used to connect to the storage system. To view the connection credentials, click Resources > Block Storage Systems. Then, right-click the storage system and select Connections > Modify Connection.

Verify the connection between the data collector and the storage system. To verify the connection, go to Configuration > Data Collectors, double click a data collector, and view the Connection Status for the storage system.

Test the connection between IBM Storage Insights and the storage system. To test the connection, click Resources > Block Storage Systems. Then, right-click the storage system and select Connections > Test Connection.

Restart data collection for the storage system. To restart data collection, click Resources > Block Storage Systems. Then, right-click the storage system and select Data Collection > Restart Data Collection.
