Disaster recovery
Metro-DR is a disaster recovery solution supported by IBM Storage Fusion HCI System and IBM Storage Fusion.

Metro Disaster Recovery protects applications from outages by synchronously mirroring all application data and etcd metadata between two OpenShift® clusters located within a metropolitan distance. If one OpenShift cluster fails, the applications can be redeployed to the surviving cluster. The use of synchronous data replication means that there is zero data loss when moving an application between clusters. IBM Storage Fusion HCI System and IBM Storage Fusion creates the necessary Persistent Volumes and Persistent Volume Claims in the surviving cluster, meaning that the application binds automatically to its storage after redeployed.
The two ways to deploy Metro-DR:- Two IBM Storage Fusion HCI Systems can be joined together to form a stretched storage layer. For information about steps to configure this solution, see Metro-DR for IBM Storage Fusion HCI System.
- Data Foundation can be configured in two OpenShift clusters to use a shared stretched Ceph cluster. For information about steps to configure this solution, see Configuring Data Foundation for OpenShift Workloads.
