Backup and Restore (Legacy)

The backup & Restore (legacy) IBM Storage Fusion service in IBM Storage Fusion and IBM Storage Fusion HCI System allows you to backup and restore applications.

From the IBM Storage Fusion or IBM Storage Fusion HCI System user interface, you can backup your Red Hat® OpenShift® applications to local, object storage, and S3 target locations.

Ensure S3 is not in the same cluster or namespace as IBM Storage Fusion or Backup & Restore (Legacy) service. You can plan to use cluster services like MinIO or NooBaa but ensure to host them on different clusters. If your backups are in the same place as your primary data, then the data is not protected.

As an administrator, you can customize the following information:
  • Frequency at which back up operation must be run.
  • Location where the aggregated data must be stored.

For more information about how to backup and restore applications, see Backup and restore application resources and Restoring an application.

In addition to basic security features that are integrated into Container Backup Support, advanced security features are provided to help protect containers, secure network connections, encrypt data, and verify installation packages. For more information about the security features, see Security features in container backup support section.
