Adding a backup system

Backup systems are source types that can be used for data storage. The backup systems uses the connection manager to establish a connection with the Data Resiliency Service.

Procedure

To add a backup system as a source type, complete the following steps:
  1. On the Data Resiliency Service home page, click Backup systems.
  2. On the Backup systems page, click Add backup system. This action opens the Add source wizard.
  3. On the Connection manager tab, select a connection manager of your interest from the table, and then click Next.
    Note: Before you select, you must have a dedicated user role to access the source with the required permissions and desired level of access.
    Tip: You can see more details of the selected connection manager such as state, number of sources registered, and location of the connection manager.
    Note: Only connection managers that are connected to Data Resiliency Service are active.
  4. On the Source type tab, select one of the listed backup systems source types, and then click Next.
  5. On the Connection details tab, enter the following details of the selected source type, and then click Next.
    • For IBM Fusion source type, enter the following details:
      • Fusion cluster URL: Enter the URL of the source.
      • Check certificate: Click to verify the certificate.
    • For Data Protect source type, enter the following details:
      • Host name or IP address: Enter the hostname or IP address of the source.
      • Check certificate: Click to verify the certificate.
    • For IBM Storage Protect source type, enter the following details:
      • Host name or IP address: Enter the hostname or IP address of the source.
      • Port: Enter the port number
      • Check certificate: Click to verify the certificate.
    • For IBM Storage Protect for Oracle source type, enter the following details:
      • Host name or IP address: Enter the hostname or IP address of the source.
      • Port: Enter the port number.
      • IBM Storage Protect server: Select a server from the drop-down list.
      • Database ID: Enter the oracle database ID.
      • IBM Storage Protect node name: Enter the node name for the storage protect server.
      • Check certificate: Click to verify the certificate.
    • For IBM Storage Protect for SAP HANA source type, enter the following details:
      • Host name or IP address: Enter the hostname or IP address of the source.
      • Port: Enter the port number.
      • IBM Storage Protect server: Select a server from the drop-down list.
      • Instance ID: Enter the SAP HANA instance ID.
      • IBM Storage Protect node name: Enter the node name for the storage protect server.
      • Check certificate: Click to verify the certificate.
  6. On the Credential tab, select an existing credential from the table. Alternatively, click Create credential to create a new credential.
  7. Click Save.
    On the Backup systems page, the source type that you added is displayed in the table with additional information.
