Licensing
The IBM® Storage Defender® Data Resiliency Service (Data Resiliency Service) has the following two tiers of licensing: Trial and Essential.
- If you are already registered with IBM Storage Defender Data Management Service (Data Management Service), you can select the Data Resiliency Service tile from the Dashboard, which directs you to fill out a form.
- If you are not registered with Data Management Service, ask your IBM representative for the form.

This Trial service is a fully functional service, where you can implement an end-to-end deployment. But you must know that this Trial service is valid for the limited amount of time that you can use without purchase.
After you have tried IBM Storage Defender and if you want to use the paid version of the service, you can contact your IBM sales team to purchase this product. To contact IBM Sales team, you can click Trial Days Left, which pops up a window where you can find a email ID to contact IBM Sales. In the process of the purchase, the IBM Storage Defender SRE team is notified that the Trial service is required to be converted to the paid service.
Also the paid service can now expire similar to a Trial service based on the license you have purchased. When a paid license is left with less than 30 days of expiration, you will see License days left in the menu bar and you can hover over or click on it to see the exact days that are left and contact information of IBM Sales.

Currently these capabilities are available to all the IBM Storage Defender clients, but these are planned to be a part of IBM Storage Defender Standard tier, which IBM is tentatively planning to release in the third quarter of 2025. When the Standard tier becomes available, IBM intends that it will cost approximately twice the current cost of the Essential tier and it will be based on the same pricing metric: the number of SaaS instances. All IBM Storage Defender clients can use these capabilities for now, but they need to purchase the Standard tier to continue using the capabilities once IBM releases the Standard tier.
