Backup systems dashboard

The Backup systems dashboard provides a high-level overview and actionable insights for actions, statistics, and backup resilience posture across the backup systems.

Backup system actions

The Backup system actions tile displays the pending actions that are related to the backup systems connected to your environment. Address these actions to improve the resilience of your backup systems. The actions are grouped based on their severity levels - critical, high, medium, and low. The following actions are displayed under the Backup system actions tile:

  • Active threats - related to recovery groups and indicate events where either IBM® Storage Defender® is not receiving signals from the connected systems (missed heartbeat) or an occurrence of a malware event.
  • System actions - related to the connected backup systems and indicate events with failed scheduled inventory. The credential expiry or network issues cause System actions.
  • Backup actions - related to taking backups to protect the data resources within the connected backup systems. Backup actions indicate events where data resources are not being backed up or have stale backups.
  • Profile misalignments - related to data resources classified into governance profiles by their classification attributes such as incremental backup frequencies, the number of secondary copies, and the number of locations. The listed data resources under Profile misalignment do not match at least one of the resilience attributes predefined in governance profiles.

You can drill down on each of the listed actions by clicking the displayed number and view the details of the impacted data resources, backup systems, or recovery groups on the respective side panels.

On the side panel, you can also filter the actions by Filter by assignee drop down. In case an action is not assigned to any user, you can assign it to a user. To assign the action to a user, click Assign user and select a user from the list of available users. To view more details, click View details. For Active threats and System actions you can further drill down from the view details side panel by clicking View connected sources and View recovery groups. You can click Actions assigned to you to view the list of actions that are assigned to you on the Actions page.

Backup statistics

The Backup statistics tile lists the number of systems available, systems failed, data resources available and data resources excluded. You can drill down on each of the listed backup statistics by clicking the displayed number and viewing the details of the impacted data resources and systems on the Data resources and Backup systems pages.

Data resources by backup status

The Data resources by backup status tile lists the number of resources without backups, stale backups, and up-to-date backups. It also provides an interactive visual representation of the total number of data resources and their backup copy status. You can also hover over the chart to view the number of data resources with respective backup copy status. Click any backup status, the backup status is displayed on the Data resources page.

Data resources by type

The Data resources by type tile lists the number of data resources such as VMware virtual machines, Oracle databases, SAP HANA databases, IBM Db2 databases, AD domain controllers, and IBM Fusion application. It also provides an interactive visual representation of the total number of resources and their type. You can hover over the chart to view the details of resource types. You can click any data resource to view the details on the Data resources page.

Policies per data resource type
The Policies per data resource type tile lists the number of policies that are associated with data resources. It also displays an interactive visual representation of the total number of policies that are associated with various data resources. You can hover over the chart to view the details.
Backup resilience posture

The Backup resilience posture tile displays a graphical representation between governance profiles and resilience (data resources). The red circles represent the data resources that are misaligned with resilience attributes. The green circles represent the data resources that are aligned with resilience attributes. You can hover over the circles to view the details. You can also click the circles to view the details in the respective side panels. On the side panel, you can use the Governance profile drop down to filter the details by governance profile.

On Backup resilience posture tile, you can complete the following actions:
  • You can click Profile details to display the governance profile details. On the side panel, click View all attributes to view further details on the Governance profile page.
  • You can filter the Backup resilience posture based on governance profiles you want to view. To filter the Backup resilience posture, click the filter icon and select the required governance profile and then click Apply.
  • You can click the Show as table icon to view the graphical view into tabular view.
  • You can click the Make fullscreen icon to view the graphical view in full screen.
