Attention: If the problem is not listed in the table, or if the problem persists after you have taken all the troubleshooting steps contact IBM support.

Problem Solution
A server does not power on
  • Check the LEDs for power supply first  1  and second  2  power supplies..
  • If the green LED for power supply 1 is off, then ensure that the cable  3  is securely connected.
  • If the green LED for power supply 2 is off, then ensure that the cable  4  is securely connected.
A cartridge that is recently imported from a different environment is causing issues Media that is moved from one environment to another can cause issues until it acclimates to the new conditions. A cartridge must be acclimated for at least 24 hours before it’s used, particularly if it was stored at a substantially different temperature or level of humidity than the device.
The Diamondback frame lighting has changed color Check the Frame lighting section for an explanation of the frame lighting modes: Light and LEDs
The State in the output of the tcmgr node show command isn't active Confirm what component isn't working properly by using tcmgr event list command. Then, follow the fix_description guidance.
You don't remember the keys for the S3 interface of a user account Use tcmgr user modify command with --reset-keys option and generate new keys.
You don't remember the password of a user account to log in to the system Log in to the system with a user account whose management access is admin and run tcmgr user modify command with --password option.
An S3 API to upload an object fails Check the available cache space by tcmgr system show --capacity. If the remaining capacity is less than 5%, the S3 APIs to upload data are disabled.
A restore operation of an object is not complete after one day Check the available cache space by tcmgr system show --capacity. If the remaining capacity is less than 20%, the restore operation is deferred.
require_validate state cartridges are in the library Use the tcmgr cartridge validate command for the cartridges in require_validate state. Refer to Validate cartridges in the system for details.
standby state drives are in the library The library may have require_validate state cartridges in the system. In this case, running tcmgr cartridge validate command for the cartridges in require_validate state resolves the drive state. Refer to Validate cartridges in the system for details.
If the system encountered unexpected shutdowns or poweroffs during operation (abrupt shutdown case) Run tcmgr cartridge list to see whether any cartridges are in require_validate state. If shown, run tcmgr cartridge validate for those cartridges for recovery. Refer to Validate cartridges in the system for details.
needs_replace or require_replace state cartridges are in the library Refer to Replacing tape cartridges in the system for detailed steps.
If drives are disabled state When a node is unexpectedly power off /on or reboot, some node can be disabled state. Run Drive Resetvia Library Web GUI and tcmgr node restart.
If you cannot resolve the problems on your system Refer to Create and download service and audit logs from a TapeCloud node to create and download your system logs. After the log is created successfully, contact IBM Support for assistance. Also refer to Contacting IBM technical support for extra tips and steps.
