Installing Pro Edition for free

Install IBM Storage Ceph Pro Edition for a free 60-day trial.

About this task

Install an IBM Storage Ceph trial version by following the steps provided. For the latest supported Red Hat Enterprise Linux versions, see Compatibility matrix.

Procedure

  1. Download and install Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL).
    1. If needed, create a Red Hat account.
      Create an account on Create a Red Hat Login on redhat.com.
    2. Log in to your Red Hat account.
    3. Get a free Red Hat Enterprise Linux subscription from Red Hat.

      Note: Confirm that your version meets the operating system requirements for IBM Storage Ceph 9.9.1 or later. For more information, see Operating system requirements.
    4. Install Red Hat Enterprise Linux on your storage nodes or hosts.
      For information about installing Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9, see How to install RHEL 9.
  2. Install IBM Storage Ceph Pro Edition.
    1. Register for a free 60-day IBM Storage Ceph Pro trial.
      For trial registration details, see IBM Storage Ceph 60-day trial on ibm.com
    2. Log in to your IBM account and get your IBM entitlement key.
      Use the username and password created during registration and go to Entitlement keys on myibm.ibm.com.
    3. Register your Red Hat Enterprise Linux nodes and enable the IBM Storage Ceph repositories.

    4. Install cephadm by running the dnf install cephadm -y command.
    5. Run the preflight playbook.
      For more information, see Running the preflight playbook.
    6. Bootstrap the IBM Storage Ceph cluster that uses cephadm.
      For more information, see Bootstrapping a new storage cluster.
    7. Use the IBM Storage Ceph Dashboard to expand your cluster with OSD, Ceph Object Gateway, S3, and other daemons and services.
