Creating users and groups access resources

Learn to create users and groups access resources by using the Ceph dashboard if you want to create an SMB cluster by using authentication mode as standalone.

About this task

User and group access resources are required to create an SMB cluster in a standalone environment. A standalone cluster is ideal for environments that require simple, direct-access control by using local user accounts. It ensures secure and controlled access to shared resources by defining user permissions and group policies.

Before you begin

Before you begin, make sure that you have the following prerequisites in place:
  • A running IBM Storage Ceph cluster.

Procedure

  1. From the Dashboard navigation, go to File > SMB.
  2. Go to the Standalone tab.
  3. Click Create.
    The Create user and group access resources form is displayed.
  4. Complete the Create user and group access resources form:
    1. Add the User and groups access resource name
    2. Optional: Click Link to cluster if you want to link your cluster.
    3. Add the Username.
    4. Add the Password.
  5. Optional: click Add User and Add Group to add multiple users and groups.
  6. Click Create.
    A notification is displayed that the resources are created successfully.
  7. Optional: Click the action button if you want to edit or delete the users and group resources.
