System requirements for IBM Storage® Archive Single Drive Edition.

The following operating systems and hardware platforms are supported:

Linux® computers

  • Supported operating systems
    • Red Hat® Enterprise Linux 8.10, 9.4, and 9.6 (x86_64, and ppc64le)
  • Supported hardware
    • x86_64, or ppc64 (POWER8® or later, in Little Endian mode) processor.
    • 1 GB of available RAM for each 1 million files that are stored on a tape.
    • Serial Attached Small Computer System Interface (SAS) or Fibre Channel host bus adapter (HBA) supported by IBM® LTO™ 5, LTO 6, LTO 7, LTO 8, LTO 9 , and LTO 10 tape drives.
    • Fibre Channel HBA supported by IBM TS1150, TS1155, TS1160 and TS1170 tape drives.
    • USB 3.0 interface that is supported by IBM USB LTO 5 and LTO 6 tape drives.
Note: Write-once, read-many (WORM) media are not supported.

Windows computers

  • Supported operating systems
    • Windows® 11 (x86_64)
    • Windows Server 2022 (x86_64) (Standard Edition and Datacenter Edition)
    • Windows Server 2025 (x86_64) (Standard Edition and Datacenter Edition)
  • Supported hardware
    • x86_64
    • 1 GB of available RAM for each 1 million files that are stored on a tape.
    • Serial Attached Small Computer System Interface (SAS) or Fibre Channel host bus adapter (HBA) supported by IBM LTO 5, LTO 6, LTO 7, LTO 8, LTO 9, and LTO 10 tape drives.
    • Fibre Channel HBA supported by IBM TS1150, TS1155, TS1160 and TS1170 tape drives.
    • USB 3.0 interface that is supported by IBM USB LTO 5 and LTO 6 tape drives.

Note: Trying to install and use LTFS 2.4.8 on Windows 10 with a lower build version than 2004 could result in BSOD.
