Troubleshooting on a Linux system

How to troubleshoot the IBM Storage Archive on a Linux® operating system.

When IBM Storage Archive detects a problem when you access the file system, it automatically reports an error message that leads you to the solution.

Linux saves error messages in the system log. To optimize service performance, it is recommended that you enable the system log.

If a problem occurs, it is recommended that you do the following actions:
  1. Check to determine whether the tape library or any tape drives report an error. For more information, see Checking a tape library and tape drive.
  2. Check for the most recent error message and the corresponding ID on the console.
  3. Check for the options available to analyze problems. For more information, see Problem analysis procedures on a Linux system.
  4. If you cannot find any action to solve the problem, see When you cannot solve a problem on a Linux system.
