Installing required software on a Linux system

How to install the software that is required for the IBM Storage Archive on a Linux® system.

About this task

Complete the following steps to install the required software on a Linux system:
Note: The IBM Storage Archive LE supports Red Hat® Enterprise Linux (RHEL). Refer to the topic System requirements for supported versions.

Procedure

  1. Open the Application menu on the toolbar.
  2. Select Add/Remove Software to start Package Manager in a GNOME desktop environment.
  3. Click the List tab to display the List page.
  4. Select All packages on the List page.
  5. Verify that all of the required software is installed on your system.


    Required software packages for RHEL systems
    • FUSE
      • fuse
      • fuse-libs
    • Java™ virtual machine (JVM)
    • libxml2
    • libuuid
    • libicu
    • openssl
    • python3-pyxattr (for systems with RHEL 8.x installed. Requires access to the Red Hat CodeReady Linux Builder repository)
    • pyxattr (for systems with RHEL 7.x installed)
    • The following software is also required to use the Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) to monitor the system:
      • net-snmp

  6. Click the Browse tab to display the Browse page.
  7. Select Development.
  8. If not already selected, select Development Library and Development Tools to classify the required software packages that are listed in step 5.
  9. Click Apply to start the package installation.
