Adding or removing drives from a node

Adding or removing drives from a node, in a system that is already configured.

Before you begin

Before you begin this procedure, ensure that all tasks that are outlined in Configuration prerequisites are done, and that a single node or multiple node environment is already configured.

About this task

Drives can be added to a node, or removed from a node, when you are adding a node to a library, or removing a node from a library. For information about adding and removing nodes and their assigned drives, see Adding a node, and Removing a node.

If you are adding a drive to your system, but not adding a node, take the following steps:
  1. Physically add the new tape drive to the tape library hardware.
  2. Assign the drive to the logical library.
  3. Allocate the new drive to an existing node. Use the eeadm drive assign command to allocate the drive to a node. For more information, see eeadm drive assign.

If you are adding or removing an existing drive from a node, but not adding or removing the node, use the eeadm drive command. For more information, see eeadm drive.
