Downloading and starting the IBM Installation Manager
You can use the IBM Installation Manager to install IBM applications on Windows, UNIX, or Linux environments from a single interface. You can install applications in either Graphical User Interface (GUI)-based mode or text-based mode.
About this task
You can perform the following tasks by using the IBM Installation Manager.
- Fresh installation of an application
- Modify an installation
- Upgrade an application to a later version
If you choose to install multiple applications, and if the installation of one of the
applications fails, the installer logs the failure and continues with the installation of the other
applications. The installer maintains separate log files for each application. At the end of the
installation, you can view the list of applications that have been successfully installed.
Important: You must install and launch Installation Manager as a normal user not as a root
user. Before you begin installation, review the documentation for the IBM Installation Manager. The
Installation Manager has multiple installation and deployment scenarios, so read the documentation
carefully and decide which scenario fits your needs before proceeding. For more information, see
IBM
Installation Manager documentation.
