Managing users

Depending upon your role, you can create, assign roles to, activate, suspend, and delete user profiles, and change or reset passwords.

About this task

An initial user profile that is named System Administrator is available by default. It is assigned the system administrator role.

Procedure

  1. Select Systems Management > User Profiles.
    Tip: If do you not see the Systems Management heading, widen your screen.
  2. From the User Profiles page, you can perform the following tasks:

    Create a user for the DEFAULT tenant, activate the account, and assign roles
    1. Click Create. On the Create User page, complete the General properties for the user profile.

      See User profile properties for descriptions. To create a user for a tenant that is not the DEFAULT tenant, see Working with tenants and their users.

    2. Click Save.

      The Activate and Suspend buttons and the Roles tab are displayed.

    3. Click Activate if you want to activate this user account.
      Requirement: You must enter a user name to activate the account.

      The Activate the selected user(s) dialog is displayed.

    4. Enter a password or choose to activate the account only. Click OK.
    5. Select the Roles tab, click Edit, and assign one or more roles. Then, click Save User.

    Activate an existing user
    1. Click the display name for a user profile.
    2. On the General tab on the User - username page, click Activate.
    3. Assign a password, if wanted. This option is only available if the Admin provided password option is active. Click Save.
    Sort to locate a user name or tenant name in the list If you have many tenants or many users for a tenant, you can sort the list to locate your choice more quickly.
    • To sort the list by name in ascending or descending alphabetical order, toggle the sort symbol (^) in the Name column.
    Filter to locate a user name or tenant name in the list If you have many tenants or many users for a tenant, you can filter the list to narrow your choices.
    1. To filter globally, enter a text string in the Filter box on a user or a tenant page.
      All rows that contain the text string in any of the following fields are displayed.
      • User fields: Display Name, Last Name, First Name, User name, Email Address
      • Tenant fields: Name, Domain Pattern, Tenant ID
    Edit a user profile
    1. Click the display name for a user profile.
    2. From the Basic Properties or the Role tab, click Edit and revise as needed.
    3. Verify and click Save User.
    Suspend an existing user Suspending an active user deactivates the account.
    1. Click the display name for a user profile.
    2. From the User tab, click Suspend.
    3. Click OK to confirm.

    The user account is suspended and is not available for use. However, the user profile is retained and can be activated again.

    Delete an existing user
    1. Click the display name for a user profile.
    2. From the Basic Properties tab, click Delete.
    3. Verify and click Save User.

    The user account and the user profile are deleted.

    Change a password
    1. Click the display name for a user profile.
    2. From the Basic Properties tab, click Change Password.
    3. Assign a new password and click Save User.
    Reset password

    The Admin Provided password management strategy must be selected to allow password reset by a system administrator

    1. Click the display name for a user profile.
    2. From the Basic Properties tab, click Reset Password.
    3. Assign a new password and click OK.
