Copying a map

About this task

You can copy maps from one map source file to another map source file.

To copy a map by dragging

Procedure

In the Navigator, press the Ctrl key while you drag the map icon to the destination map source file.

To copy a map using the copy command

Procedure

  1. Place current focus on the map you want to copy. The map is active when the name of the map displays in the Map Designer title bar. You can double-click the map in the Extender Navigator view to place the focus on it.
  2. On the Map menu, click Copy.

    The Copy Map dialog box is displayed.

  3. In the Copy To field, enter a map source file name. You can also browse to display the Project Browser dialog box in which you can navigate the files in your project, select the map source file to which you want to copy the map, and click OK, which returns you to the Copy Map dialog box.
  4. In the Copy As field, enter a name for the map, or select it from the list.
  5. Click OK.
    The map is copied to the map source file that you specified, with the name that you entered.

Results

If you enter a map source file that does not exist, you will be asked if you want the file to be created.
