Adding input and output cards to an existing map

This topic describes how you can add input and output cards to an existing map, from a type in a type tree.

About this task

You can add input and output cards to an existing map, from a type in a type tree, using the Generate Map menu option with the Existing Map option selected. Close the map source file before you run this option.

To add input and output cards to an existing map:

Results

The map generator process added the following entities to the executable map:
  • Input and output cards as you specified. They have the same name as the type in the type tree suffixed by _Inp for the input card, and _Out for the output card.

What to do next

View the executable map to see the new input and output cards that the process added to it.

Procedure

  1. Right-click a type in the type tree file opened in the Type Tree editor, and select Generate Map.
    The Map Generator window opens.
  2. Click Existing Map.
  3. In the Map Specifics pane, select Input Card or Output Card or both.
  4. Specify the executable map and its location in the Select the map text field by either one of the following ways:
    • Enter the executable map in the Select the map text field. Enter the location path and executable map name in the following format:
       location_path\executable_map_name
    • Use the Select Executable Map browser to specify the executable map.

    Your selected executable map appears in the Select the map text field of the Map Generator window.

  5. Click OK.
    The Transformation Extender window opens and the The map(s) generation is successful. message appears.
  6. Click OK.

Results

The map generator process added the following entities to the executable map:
  • Input and output cards as you specified. They have the same name as the type in the type tree suffixed by _Inp for the input card, and _Out for the output card.
