About this task

The SAP:BAPI (Business Application Programming Interfaces) Importer is a facility for automatically generating schemas that describe the format of data used in BAPI programs in your SAP R/3 system. After you have identified a BAPI to be used as the metadata input for Connections and Actions, generate the schema, and create the map.

To run the SAP:BAPI Importer:

Procedure

From the Design Server, select Import a type tree. Click OK.
Choose SAP:BAPI as the structure for which you want to generate a type tree and click Next.
Continue to click Next until the Adapter Command Line field appears in the window. Enter the adapter connect parameters in the Adapter Command Line field.
Or, click the Configure button to display the R/3 Connection Settings dialog box in which you can enter the connection values. Click the Diagnostics tab to enable Trace for the adapter, specifying a detailed trace and a trace file name. When finished, click OK.
Click Next.
In the Function Module Name field, enter the name of a valid function module in SAP; or select the appropriate module by clicking the Configure button to display the BAPI Explorer.
From the BAPI Explorer, expand a Business Object, select a method, and click OK. The method appears in the Function Module Name field.
Click Next.
The File Name window opens. Enter the name of the type tree you wish to create or select a file name.
BAPI is the default for the pull-down menu list.
When naming the schema, there is an option for creating a metadata file. Enable this option to save the metadata file. Click Next.
The Connections and Actions connects to the SAP R/3 system and reads the function module importing and exporting parameters. While Connections and Actions is connecting with the SAP R/3 System, a message appears and the schema is generated.
