Lesson 2: Assigning email permissions

Follow this lesson to learn how to assign permissions that allow users to view and manage emails on the Inbox tab in the IBM Security® QRadar® SOAR Platform .

About this task

Inbound email is displayed in the Inbox tab on the SOAR Platform home page.

Users cannot view the Inbox tab by default. You must assign permission to view emails on the Inbox tab.

Note: When an inbound email is processed and determined to either create or update an incident, the email is moved from the Inbox to the incident Email tab. Access to incident emails is controlled by the users Incident Permissions. These permissions are assigned separately from the Inbox permissions.

Procedure

  1. Select Administrator Settings > Roles and scroll down.
  2. To grant users permissions to access the Inbox tab, check Access Inbox.
  3. To grant users permissions to download or delete emails, check the Download emails or Delete emails options.

    Users must have the Download Emails permission to preview an email.

Results

Users who are granted the Access Inbox permissions can now see and access the Inbox.

These permissions that are granted apply only to global roles. They determine whether users can access the Inbox and view, download, and delete emails in the inbox.

Users without the Access Inbox permissions do not see the Inbox tab or the emails in the Inbox tab.
