Generating multiple new variables with the same attributes

1. In Variable View, click the row number for the variable that has the attributes that you want to use for the new variable. (The entire row is highlighted.)
2. From the menus choose:

   Edit > Copy

3. Click the empty row number beneath the last defined variable in the data file.
4. From the menus choose:

   Edit > Paste Variables...

5. In the Paste Variables dialog box, enter the number of variables that you want to create.
6. Enter a prefix and starting number for the new variables.
7. Click OK.

The new variable names will consist of the specified prefix plus a sequential number starting with the specified number.
