To specify value labels

1. Make the Data Editor the active window.
2. If Data View is displayed, double-click the variable name at the top of the column in Data View or click the Variable View tab.
3. Click the button in the Values cell for the variable that you want to define.
4. For each value, enter the value and a label.
5. Click Add to enter the value label.
6. Click OK.

You can also use Define Variable Properties to assist you in the process of assigning value labels. Define Variable Properties scans the data and lists all the unique values for each variable, providing a simple grid to enter value labels next to the corresponding values.
