Profile Plots

Figure 1. Profile plot for Promotion
Profile plot for Promotion

The profile plots show the model-estimated means for the three promotions for each of the four weeks of the study. The model-estimated sales are plotted on the vertical axis. The week is plotted on the horizontal axis. Separate lines are produced for each promotion.

The profile plot for Promotion shows that the first promotion generated the highest sales. Over the course of the study, sales were fairly steady from week to week.

Figure 2. Profile plot for Market ID
Profile plot for Market ID

The profile plot for Market ID shows that over the course of the study, sales were fairly steady from week to week. There is a lot of market-to-market variability, so it is an important effect to model; however, you cannot generalize the model results to other markets if Market ID is a fixed effect. Aside from the first market, which generated considerably higher sales than the others, the market effects seem to be randomly scattered. Using another procedure, you might be able to specify Market ID as a random effect.
