Running the Analysis

  1. To run a Complex Samples Cox Regression analysis, from the menus choose:

    Analyze > Complex Samples > Cox Regression...

  2. In the Complex Samples Plan dialog, browse to the sample files directory and select recidivism_cs.csplan as the plan file.
  3. Select Custom file in the Joint Probabilities group, browse to the sample files directory, and select recidivism_cs_jointprob.sav.
  4. Click Continue.

  5. Select Time to second arrest [time_to_event] as the variable defining the end of the interval.
  6. Select Second arrest [arrest2] as the variable defining whether the event has occurred.
  7. Click Define Event.

  8. Select 1 Yes as the value indicating the event of interest (rearrest) has occurred.
  9. Click Continue.
  10. Click the Predictors tab.

  11. On the Predictors tab, select Age in years [age] as a covariate.
  12. Click the Statistics tab.

  13. On the Statistics tab, select Test of proportional hazards and then select Log as the time function in the Model Assumptions group.
  14. Select Parameter estimates for alternative model in the Model Assumptions group.
  15. Click OK.
