Authentication
IBM® SPSS® Statistics supports multiple authentication methods when logging in with your IBMid.
Authentication Methods
When you log in to IBM SPSS Statistics
with your IBMid, you have three authentication options:
- Passkey: Passwordless authentication using biometrics or device PIN (Recommended)
- Email: Traditional password-based authentication with your email
- IBM Verify or other authenticator apps: Multi-factor authentication using the IBM Verify app or other authentication apps on your device.
See IBMid documentation for more information.
- Using Passkey Authentication (Recommended)
- Passkey provides the most secure and convenient way to authenticate without remembering
passwords.Passkey is a modern, passwordless authentication method that uses the following authentication methods:
- Biometric verification (fingerprint, face recognition)
- Device PIN (Windows Hello PIN, macOS password)
- Hardware security keys
Your device must be registered as a trusted passkey device with your IBMid. Windows Hello, Touch ID, or equivalent biometric authentication must be enabled on your device. See the following step-by-step instructions for using Passkey authentication for a secure, passwordless login experience.- On the Single Sign-On (SSO) page, the security prompt in your operating system appears:
- Windows: Windows Security prompt
- macOS: Touch ID or password prompt
- Linux: System authentication dialog
- Verify your identity by using one of the following methods:
- Enter your device PIN
- Use biometric authentication (fingerprint or face recognition)
- Use a hardware security key
- Once verified, the authentication process completes automatically and the browser displays that the authentication is complete. It prompts you to open IBM SPSS Statistics.
- Click Open IBM SPSS Statistics.

-
Email
This is a traditional password-based authentication method.- On the SSO page, enter your IBMid credentials. Then enter the verification code received on your email.
- Click Sign In.
- Security Best Practices
-
- Keep Your Device Secure: Use a strong PIN or password for device authentication
- Register Multiple Devices: Register backup devices for passkey authentication
- Regular Updates: Keep SPSS Statistics and your operating system updated
- Secure Network: Use secure, trusted networks when authenticating
- Log Out: Always log out from your account if you use shared or public computers
