The Ratio Statistics procedure is a useful tool for obtaining summary statistics for the ratio of two scale variables.
- Other procedures offer some different summary statistics, but they are computed separately for each scale variable. To use a univariate procedure to obtain summary statistics for the ratio of two variables, first use Compute Variable (Transform menu) to create a third variable containing the ratio of the two variables. See the topic Summary Statistics Using Frequencies for more information. See the topic Summary Statistics Using Descriptives for more information.
- To use the Ratio Statistics procedure to obtain summary statistics for a single variable, create a variable whose values equal 1, then specify that variable as the denominator.
