Estimated Marginal Means: Vehicle Type

Figure 1. Estimated marginal means for Vehicle type
Estimated marginal means for Vehicle type

This table displays the model-estimated marginal means, standard errors, and confidence intervals for Average cost of claims at the factor levels of Vehicle type. This table is useful for exploring the differences between the levels of this factor. In this example, the marginal means range from a low of 177.71 for vehicle type B to a high of 239.87 for vehicle type D. To see whether the values in this table represent real differences or are likely due to chance variation, look at the test results.

Figure 2. Pairwise comparisons for Vehicle type
Pairwise comparisons for Vehicle type

The pairwise comparisons table displays the differences between each pair of vehicle types and tests whether each difference is due to chance variation. Only the comparison between vehicle types A and B is not statistically significant. These two groups are associated with the lowest claims, followed by type C, and then type D with the highest claims.

Figure 3. Overall test results for Vehicle type
Overall test results for Vehicle type

The overall test table reports the results of a test of all of the contrasts in the pairwise comparisons table. This test is not equivalent to the model effects test for Vehicle type because the model effects test is performed on the transformed scale, while these estimated marginal means have been computed on the original scale
