Goodness-of-Fit Tests

Goodness-of-fit tests from General Loglinear Analysis.

The goodness-of-fit table presents two tests of the null hypothesis that the model adequately fits the data. For this model, it also tests the independence of Newspaper subscription and Response.

  • If the null is true, the Pearson and likelihood ratio statistics have chi-square distributions with the displayed degrees of freedom.
  • If the significance value is small (less than 0.05), then the model does not adequately fit the data. In this case, its value is near 0, thus there is some relationship between Newspaper subscription and Response.
