Specifying the Model and Transformation

The Model tab is used to specify how the proximities are transformed and modeled.

Model Type

Since the analysis uses only one proximity source, the Identity model is automatically selected.

Transformation

Transformation is set to Unconditional, which is the only option available for a single source. The transformation function that is applied is Ordinal with Allow ties to be untied.

This is a nonmetric transformation. The rank order of proximities is preserved and tied values are separated if it improves the fit. It is the most flexible ordinal transformation.

The number of dimensions is set to 2, which produces a two-dimensional spatial representation of the states.
