Running the Analysis

  1. To run a Categorical Regression analysis, from the menus choose:

    Analyze > Regression > Optimal Scaling (CATREG)...

  2. Select Preference as the dependent variable.
  3. Select Package design through Money-back guarantee (when variables are listed in file order) as independent variables.
  4. Select Preference and click Define Scale.

  5. In the Define Scale dialog, select Numeric as the optimal scaling level.
  6. Click Continue.
  7. Select Package design and click Define Scale in the Categorical Regression dialog.
  8. In the Define Scale dialog, select Nominal as the optimal scaling level.
  9. Click Continue.
  10. Select Brand name through Money-back guarantee and click Define Scale in the Categorical Regression dialog.
  11. In the Define Scale dialog, select Numeric as the optimal scaling level.
  12. Click Continue.
  13. Click Output in the Categorical Regression dialog.

  14. In the Output dialog, select Correlations of original variables and Correlations of transformed variables in the Tables group.
  15. Deselect ANOVA in the Tables group.
  16. Click Continue.
  17. Click Save in the Categorical Regression dialog.

  18. In the Save dialog, select Save residuals to the active dataset.
  19. Select Save transformed variables to the active dataset in the Transformed Variables group.
  20. Click Continue.
  21. Click Plots in the Categorical Regression dialog.

  22. In the Plots dialog, choose to create transformation plots for Package design and Price.
  23. Click Continue.
  24. Click OK in the Categorical Regression dialog.
