Data in categories (nominal, ordinal)

To Obtain Crosstabulations with Significance Tests

This feature requires the Statistics Base option.

From the menus choose:

Analyze > Descriptive Statistics > Crosstabs...

1. Select one or more categorical row variables and one or more categorical column variables.
2. Click Statistics...
3. Select the statistical tests that you want.

The categorical variables can be string (alphanumeric) variables or numeric variables that use numeric codes to represent categories (e.g., 0=Male, 1=Female).
