Running the Analysis
- To
run a Cox Regression analysis, from the menus choose:
Figure 1. Cox Regression main dialog box - Select Months with service [tenure] as the time variable.
- Select Churn within last month [churn] as the status variable.
- Click Define Event.
Figure 2. Define Event dialog box - In the Define Event dialog, type 1 as the single value indicating the customer churned.
- Click Continue.
Figure 3. Cox Regression main dialog box - In the Cox Regression dialog, and with variables listed in file order, select Age in years [age] through Years at current address [address] and Level of education [ed] through Number of people in household [reside] as covariates.
- Select Forward: LR in the Method drop-down list.
- Click Next in the Block group.

category [custcat] as a covariate.
Leave the default value of Enter in the Method drop-down list. By using the entry method in a second block, this guarantees that Customer category will be included in the model.
- Click Categorical.
Figure 5. Categorical Covariate dialog box - In the Categorical Covariates dialog, select marital, ed, retire, gender, and custcat as categorical covariates.
- Click Continue.
- Click Plots in the Cox Regression
dialog box.
Figure 6. Plots dialog box - In the Plots dialog, select Survival and Hazard in the Plot Type group.
- Choose to have separate lines produced for each level of custcat.
- Click Continue.
- Click OK in the Cox Regression dialog box.
