Selecting a map

Open the data files Tracts.sav and CrimeData.sav.

To create geospatial association rules, from the menus, choose:

Analyze > Spatial and Temporal Modeling > Spatial Modeling

  1. Select Find associations based on event and geospatial data (Geospatial Association Rules).
  2. Click Next.

  3. Click Add Map File.
  4. Go to Samples\English\MapData and select the shape file Mapdata.shp.
  5. In the Set Projection dialog, select A city, region, or country (Mercator).
  6. You can also change the Relationship. This setting defines how events relate to features on the map. For example, events can occur Within an area or Close to a specific location. For this example, the default selection of Within is correct.
  7. Click Next.

You can add multiple maps. For example, you could have a map that defines geographic areas such as states or counties, a map that defines roads, and a map that defines terrain features such as rivers or lakes.
