Working with the IBM SPSS Statistics Batch Facility

This chapter describes how to use the IBM® SPSS® Statistics Batch Facility. It is intended for the IT professional who is responsible for production of the reports, including scheduling report production, running the command syntax files, and ensuring that the reports are available at an agreed-upon location.

When the command syntax files are ready to be put into production, run them with the IBM SPSS Statistics Batch Facility in batch mode. Although you can run commands in either batch or interactive mode, batch mode is appropriate for production.

On Windows, the IBM SPSS Statistics Batch Facility is in the IBM SPSS Statistics Server installation directory. On UNIX, it is in the /bin subdirectory of the installation directory. The IBM SPSS Statistics Batch Facility can be run independently from IBM SPSS Statistics Server--you do not need to start the server to run the IBM SPSS Statistics Batch Facility.
