Environment Variables for the Batch Facility

The environment variables and their settings are listed in the following table. Some of these variables must be set before you run the IBM® SPSS® Statistics Batch Facility.

PATH The paths needed by various Windows applications. To run the Batch Facility from any location on the command prompt, you should append the IBM SPSS Statistics Server installation directory to the PATH variable. Yes No
SPSSTMPDIR The directory in which temporary files are to be written. Select a location where you can grant users read, write, and execute permissions and with lots of disk space. On Windows, you can set this as a System (for all users) or User variable. On UNIX, users can add this variable to their enviornment. If you want a default for all users, use the SPSSTMPDIR_ DEFAULT variable instead. Yes Yes
SPSSTMPDIR_DEFAULT The directory in which temporary files are to be written. Select a location where you can grant users read, write, and execute permissions and with lots of disk space. This is the default temporary file location for all users. Individual users can override this location by setting SPSSTMPDIR in their environment. No Yes
MERANT_ENVIRONMENT_SCRIPT The location in which the data access client, for Connect ODBC or the SequeLink client, is installed. No Yes
