Column Width

You may have noticed that the table in the previous example is rather wide. One solution to this problem would be to simply swap the row and column variables. Another solution is to make the columns narrower, since they seem to be much wider than necessary. (In fact, the reason we shortened the summary statistics labels was so that we could make the columns narrower.)

  1. Open the table builder (Analyze menu, Tables, Custom Tables).
  2. Click the Options tab.
  3. In the Width for Data Columns group, select Custom.
  4. For the Maximum, type 36. (Make sure that the Units setting is Points.)
  5. Click OK to create the table.

Now the table is much more compact.
