Accessing Dialog Boxes to Store or Retrieve IBM SPSS Collaboration and Deployment Services Repository Objects

Access from Open or Save As Dialogs

  • Access to the dialog boxes used for storing to, and retrieving from, a IBM® SPSS® Collaboration and Deployment Services Repository is available from most Open and Save As dialog boxes. These include the dialog boxes accessed from File>Save As and File>Open, as well as those accessed from procedure dialog boxes and used to store or retrieve, for example, XML model files or plan files for complex samples analyses.

For example, to store the contents of the currently selected Viewer window to a IBM SPSS Collaboration and Deployment Services Repository, from the Viewer window choose:

File > Save As...

  1. In the Save As dialog box, select Store File To IBM SPSS Collaboration and Deployment Services Repository—a choice that is available in each dialog box that supports storing to a IBM SPSS Collaboration and Deployment Services Repository. This opens a IBM SPSS Collaboration and Deployment Services Repository Store dialog box. See the topic Storing an Object to a IBM SPSS Collaboration and Deployment Services Repository for more information.

Or, for example, to retrieve a command syntax file from a IBM SPSS Collaboration and Deployment Services Repository, from the menus choose:

    File > Open > Syntax...

  2. In the Open dialog box, select Retrieve File From IBM SPSS Collaboration and Deployment Services Repository—a choice that is available in each dialog box that supports retrieval from a IBM SPSS Collaboration and Deployment Services Repository. This opens a IBM SPSS Collaboration and Deployment Services Repository Retrieve dialog box. See the topic Retrieving an Object from a IBM SPSS Collaboration and Deployment Services Repository for more information.

If there is no current connection to a IBM SPSS Collaboration and Deployment Services Repository, the Repository Server dialog box opens, allowing you to establish a connection.

Access from the File Menu

The IBM SPSS Collaboration and Deployment Services Repository submenu enables you to store or retrieve data, output, and syntax files, as well as providing the ability to store or retrieve generic files to or from a IBM SPSS Collaboration and Deployment Services Repository.

Store from IBM SPSS Statistics. Store the contents of the currently selected window (Data Editor, Viewer, or Syntax Editor) to a IBM SPSS Collaboration and Deployment Services Repository.

Add a File. Store a file from the local file system to a IBM SPSS Collaboration and Deployment Services Repository. This choice is intended for file types that are not saved through Save As dialogs within the product--for example, script files (e.g. files of type .sbs, .wwd, or .py).

Retrieve to IBM SPSS Statistics. Retrieve a file from a IBM SPSS Collaboration and Deployment Services Repository and open it within IBM SPSS Statistics. This option is only available for IBM SPSS Statistics data files, output files, and syntax files.

Download a File. Retrieve a file from a IBM SPSS Collaboration and Deployment Services Repository and store it to the local file system. This choice is intended for file types that are not accessed through Open dialogs within the product--for example, script files (e.g. files of type .sbs, .wwd or .py).

If there is no current connection to a IBM SPSS Collaboration and Deployment Services Repository, the Repository Server dialog box opens after selecting one of the above choices. Once a connection has been established, you can proceed.
