Using Chart Templates

Chart templates allow you to save the settings from one chart and apply these settings to other charts. You can use chart templates to automatically create charts with:

• A customized look (for example, a corporate color scheme).
• Customized settings (for example, a scale axis range).
• Customized options (for example, fit lines).

After saving a chart template, you can manually apply it in the Chart Editor or specify the template during chart creation. You can also specify a default template whose settings are applied to all charts automatically.

Chart templates created in releases prior to 12.0 will not work in release 12.0 or later. You must create new chart templates. Obsolete chart templates usually have an .sct extension. New chart templates have an .sgt extension.
