Uninstalling IBM Storage Protect Snapshot

When you install IBM Storage Protect Snapshot, some components are saved to your system. You can remove components by using the Windows Add or Remove Programs or Programs and Features in the Windows control panel. You must manually remove any remaining files, registry keys, or Windows services that are created by IBM Storage Protect Snapshot.

Before you begin
Log into a Windows account with administrator privileges.
About this task
This procedure assumes that a default IBM Storage Protect Snapshot configuration is in place.

Use this procedure to completely remove all IBM Storage Protect Snapshot data from a computer. Adjust the path in the example to suit your environment.

Procedure
  1. Copy any files that you want to keep from the c:\Program Files\Tivoli directory and its subdirectories to a different directory.
    For example, you might have configuration files that you want to save.
  2. Delete any IBM Storage Protect Snapshot scheduled tasks:
    1. Select the Scheduling node in the IBM Storage Protect Snapshot tree view.
    2. Select each scheduled task that is listed in the Schedules section of the results pane, and click Delete.
  3. Stop any IBM Storage Protect Snapshot components that are running.
  4. Delete any existing IBM Storage Protect Snapshot snapshots by issuing the DELETE BACKUP command.
  5. Enter the following commands. You can use the command
    dsmcutil
                         list
    to display any IBM Storage Protect Snapshot services that are installed.
    1. cd /d c:\program files\tivoli\tsm\baclient
      If necessary, replace
      c:\program
                                    files\tivoli
      with the correct installation folder.
    2. dsmcutil remove /name:TSM Remote Client Agent
      Important: Remove the IBM Storage Protect Remote Client Agent before you remove the IBM Storage Protect Client Acceptor, or the IBM Storage Protect Client Acceptor cannot be removed.
    3. dsmcutil remove /name:TSM Client Acceptor
  6. From the Control Panel window, open Add or Remove Programs or Programs and Features.
  7. Uninstall the following items if listed:
    • IBM Storage Protect Snapshot
    • IBM Storage Protect client
    • IBM Storage Protect for Databases: Data Protection for Microsoft SQL Server
    • IBM Storage Protect for Mail: Data Protection for Microsoft Exchange Server
  8. Find theIBM Storage Protect staging files and remove them from the file system. Run the following commands:
    • cd /d c:\program files\tivoli
      If the IBM Storage Protect staging files are not in the default locations, manually remove the files. If necessary, replace
      c:\program
                                    files\tivoli
      with the correct installation folder.
    • rd /s flashcopymanager
    • rd /s tsm
  9. Enter the following command:
    reg query hklm\software\ibm
    A list of registry keys are displayed. For example:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\ibm\ADSM
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\ibm\FlashCopyManager
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\ibm\GSK7
    KEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\ibm\GSK8
  10. Enter the following commands from a Run as Administrator command prompt window.
    1. Enter this command if you want to completely remove the IBM Storage Protect backup-archive client from the system: reg delete HKLM\SOFTWARE\IBM\ADSM
      You can uninstall IBM Storage Protect Snapshot, but continue to use IBM Storage Protect backup-archive client.
    2. reg delete
                                 HKLM\SOFTWARE\IBM\FLASHCOPYMANAGER
  11. Before you enter the following commands, verify these requirements:
    • The entries HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\ibm\GSK7 and HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\ibm\GSK8 were included in the command output that is shown in Step 9.
    • No other applications are using IBM® GSKIT.
    If either of the preceding conditions exist, enter the following commands:
    1. reg delete
                                 HKLM\software\ibm\GSK7
    2. reg delete
                                 HKLM\software\ibm\GSK8
  12. Remove any IBM Storage Protect Snapshot user configuration files by entering the following command. Repeat the command for any user accounts that are configured with IBM Storage Protect Snapshot:
    1. Change to the following directory:
      cd %userprofile%\appdata\local\microsoft_corporation

      Add quotation marks around the directory name if the name contains any spaces. For example: cd /d %userprofile%\appdata\local\microsoft_corporation

    2. Enter this command:
      dir _fmux*
    3. Remove each folder that begins with _fmux.
      Make sure to enclose the folder name in quotation marks ( ). For example:
      rd /s  _FmUx,_Version=4.1.2.0,_C_Path_rusomschqavk3w2upyovnjyl331z5qn3
