Installation prerequisites for backup and clone serversEdit online For hosts that are used as backup or clone servers, the operating system version and maintenance level must be the same as the production server. Backup server prerequisitesWhen IBM® Storage Protect Snapshot is used in an environment with IBM® Storage Protect, a backup server is required. This backup server is used to offload the backup workload from the production server to the backup server, and sends the application critical backups to an IBM® Storage Protect server. Ensure that the required setting are in place before you install IBM® Storage Protect Snapshot on the backup server. Clone server prerequisitesFor setting up a cloning server, the database instances must be installed and configured on the clone server. Ensure that all the prerequisites are in place before you set up the clone server. Offload backups to an IBM Storage Protect server with Oracle RMANTo offload incremental backups from an Oracle environment, IBM® Storage Protect Snapshot requires an Oracle database instance to be installed and configured on the backup server.
